Hi, my name is Michelle Alleman and I am here today at the Ryokan Sawanoya, which is a traditional Japanese hotel which uses the traditional style of sleeping on tatami mats and using the same bathroom for the entire floor. This hotel has been open for decades but only started allowing foreign guests to come in since 1982. Ever since they started accepting foreign guests, this hotel has become extremely popular and extremely famous, and has had celebrities stay such as Tom Cruise and Steve Jobs. This hotel is entirely family-owned and family-run and it brings a home-y feel and gives you a comfortable stay the whole time you’re there. You can use onsen baths downstairs and have a relaxing, enjoyable time here in Japan.
